Advent calendars presented to Foodbank

麻豆传媒网站 Unison has been co-ordinating the collection of food boxes for the 麻豆传媒网站 Foodbank.
麻豆传媒网站鈥檚 officers along with employees from Theatr Clwyd,听Newydd Catering and Cleaning and Wales Audit Office have come together to back a 鈥渞everse advent calendar鈥� campaign.听 This will go some way to ensure that the Foodbank shelves are adequately stocked over the busy Christmas period.
The Reverse Advent Calendar听is a simple idea and a great way to support people who need a little help at Christmas 鈥� by donating 24 items of food to the Foodbank. Sarah Taylor, Branch Secretary of 麻豆传媒网站 Unison, said:
鈥淲e have had an overwhelming response to our campaign.听 麻豆传媒网站 employees from every department have got on board and donated to this very worthy cause.听 We have collected over 60 boxes and it鈥檚 fantastic to be able to hand them over to the volunteers from the Foodbank today.听
鈥�It may surprise you to learn, but, in the last 12 months, Unison 麻豆传媒网站 Branch has handed out a number of Foodbank vouchers.听 This is a stark reminder that it鈥檚 local people in work as well as on Universal Credit who need extra help.鈥�
The Council鈥檚 Chief Executive, Colin Everett, and Sarah were present to help hand over the parcels to Sue Leake, Project Manager of the 麻豆传媒网站 Foodbank, in time to distribute the items to families for Christmas.
Sue said:
鈥淲e鈥檇 like to thank everyone for their support 鈥� this food will genuinely make a difference to people in our local community.听 We don鈥檛 believe anyone in this day and age should have to face going hungry. That鈥檚 why, year round, we provide three days鈥� nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us.听 Unfortunately, at this time of year, we are particularly busy and so we are really grateful for the support of Unison and 麻豆传媒网站.鈥�
